Mazda's truly mini van will get a refresh for the at beginning of next year. And if you want to buy a Mazda5, you better do it before New Years.
Don't get me wrong, I've always loved the Mazda5 but this redesign has transformed it into a mutant. At the Front they have given it Mazda's quintessential smile, but added fangs. To the side there are swoopy lines that are best described as unflattering. And the back is ruined.
Also changed is a bigger 2.5L inline 4 with 157hp, up a whopping 5hp from the previous version. And the price is up slightly too, now a base GS will set you back $21,795, up a thousand bucks.
The Mazda5 is a great little van. It's just what the growing family needs. And the looks of the current/previous versions were perfect. After January, however, it will be a little more embarrassing to drive in, unfortunately.
